Glasgow City Council confirms investigation of teacher over alleged sectarian comments

Glasgow City Council has confirmed that it is investigating a teacher over alleged sectarian comments.

A complaint was filed after the school worker was allegedly abusive towards protestants on social media by using the term 'hun'. The comment was made publicly on Twitter but soon after the account was made private, before the comment was reported to the council on Tuesday, September 6.

The complainer described the person as "a bigot and harbouring extreme views" and added that they wanted to see children protected from the opinions, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

Glasgow City Council confirmed it was investigating. A spokesman said: "As with any other allegation, this will be investigated."

It comes as Shetland actor Douglas Henshall was forced to apologise after he was caught using the word "hun" on Twitter following the Old Firm derby on Sunday.

The star was called to apologise again by the Scottish Conservatives after it emerged he had written earlier offensive tweets.

Anti-sectarian charity Nil by Mouth considers the word to be "used negatively against Protestants".
