On Friday the GMB handed over the donations to the Fans Supporting Foodbanks organisation, which aims to tackle food austerity and collect food for the needy.

Speaking about the fundraiser, GMB Glasgow Convenor, Chris Mitchell said: “The event was fantastic and we raised nearly £500 on that day.

“A lot of people turned up to the game with food as well as cash donations which we took to Rutherglen on Friday where we met up with Fans Supporting Food Banks.

“The event was well attended, and we absolutely trenched Labour as we beat them 8-1 but we got beaten in the semi-finals by Living Rent who won 5-4. Living Rent then went on to beat Unison.

“We appreciate all the support from the community. We are going to participate in this tournament every year and make it bigger and better if we can.”
