Glasgow-bound British Airways flight from London Heathrow lands early after mid-air medical emergency

A British Airways flight was forced to issue a mid-air alert after a sick passenger required urgent medical assistance. The 7.15am BA1472 service from London Heathrow to Glasgow Airport requested a priority landing on Monday, July 18, due to the on-board emergency.

The general emergency squawk signal 7700 was issued at around 8.08am, while the aircraft flew over Dumfries and Galloway.

The flight safely touched down approximately 20 minutes later - around 15 minutes ahead of schedule. The condition of the passenger is not currently known.

A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed to the Daily Record that the pilot had issued the alert as a precaution due to a customer requiring medical treatment.
