A Glasgow bakery has shown its support for the LGBT+ community by launching a limited-edition rainbow-coloured bagel.
Brawsome Bagels will be offering the eye-catching bagel stuffed with cream cheese at their Dumbarton Road shop with all proceeds donated to LGBT Youth Scotland.
The charity provides youth work to LGBTQIA+ young people across the country and is a cause particularly close to Brawsome Bagels owner and founder Ian Brooke’s heart.
He said: “It’s important to me and the team that we show support for our own community from a grass-roots level. It made sense, during Pride more than ever before, to not only use our platform to spread the message of inclusivity but to also raise much-needed funds for young LGBTQIA+ people.
“On a more personal note, LGBT Youth Scotland was the preferred charity of a much-beloved friend and member of our community who sadly passed away recently. We are fundraising in both his memory and for the benefit of the wider community.
“We want to be part of the reason that Scotland continues to be the best place to grow up as an LGBTQIA+ person.”
The tasty treat has been launched with the help of Glasgow Raptors RFC, the city’s LGBTQIA+ inclusive rugby team.
Chairperson Ross Lockerbie said the club is delighted to be “throwing its support” behind the fundraising effort.
He said: “Glasgow Raptors have supported LGBT Youth Scotland for some time now, so getting involved with Brawsome’s fundraising efforts was a no-brainer.
“It’s so important that we continue to raise funds and show our support as a community. Scotland is a great place to live, and we want to get behind any campaign that ensures young LGBTQIA+ people feel safe and supported growing up here.
“This is a great way to raise funds during Pride Month, plus the bagels are absolutely delicious- come and ‘try’ one for yourself!”
Dr Mhairi Crawford, CEO of LGBT Youth Scotland, added: “We are so grateful for the support from Ian and the team at Brawsome Bagels this pride. What an inventive and delicious way to raise much-needed funds for our work with young people in Scotland.

“It’s thanks to the support from local businesses like Brawsome Bagels that we can continue to support thousands of young people each year to help them reach their full potential and thrive.
“We’re on a mission to make Scotland the best place for young people to live, love and work and everyone buying a bagel this Pride season will help make this happen.”
The limited-edition bagel is just one of the special additions the Partick-based bakery has added to the menu to celebrate Pride Month.
To mark Glasgow’s “Mardi Gla” celebration on July 16, Brawsome Bagels will also be serving up a Unicorn Iced Latte – priced at £4 – on the day.
The bagels will be served on a first-come-first-served basis so better be quick to get your hands on one!
