Glasgow attempted murder probe after man found with 'life-threatening' injuries in east end

An attempted murder probe has been launched after a man was found seriously injured in Glasgow's east end after being stabbed with an 'unknown object'.

Emergency services were called to Springfield Road around 12.05am on Thursday morning. A 31-year-old man was discovered with life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition is described as critical.

Police remained on the scene into Thursday afternoon with part of the road cordoned off while investigations continue into the incident.

The suspects are believed to be two men, described as wearing dark clothing, who were last seen heading towards London Road. Officers are currently checking relevant CCTV for any information which could assist and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Kenny McDonald said: “Around 12.05am on Thursday, 21 July, 2022, officers were called to Springfield Road, Glasgow, after a 31-year-old man was seriously injured.

“Emergency services attended and he was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with what were described as life threatening injuries.

Officers are treating this as an attempted murder and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0005 of 21 July, 2022. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”
