Glasgow artists donate signed prints to Finnieston gift shop's Ukraine fundraiser

Glasgow artists Ross Muir and Adrian McMurchie have donated signed limited edition artworks to a west end fundraiser in aid of the Ukraine crisis.

Gift shop Velvet Moon in Finnieston will hold a silent auction for the prints this Saturday March 19, with 100 per cent of the money raised from the prints donated to the cause.

They will also be donating 20 per cent of the shops takings to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Artist Ross Muir has been a friend of Velvet Moon since he started selling his work through the shop over seven years ago.

Donating a total of 26 prints, some of which are limited editions, fans of Ross’ work will likely know him best for his ‘Square Gogh’ impression which, alongside Ross’ other work, now sells worldwide.

Another friend of Velvet Moon for 11 years, Adrian McMurchie is a long-standing Glaswegian illustrator whose work has been published in newspapers across the UK and children’s books.

His building and cityscapes have been commissioned by the likes of Glasgow Airport, The Corinthian, British Airways and Radisson hotels.

Velvet Moon owner, Brenda Wallace, said: “As with everyone, we’re so saddened to see the horrific scenes in Ukraine.

"There have been some amazing initiatives set-up by the people and businesses of Glasgow in the last few weeks to support those who are providing aid to the crisis, and we wanted to play our own part.

"We’re so grateful to our amazing friends Ross and Adrian who have kindly donated to our fundraising day this Saturday and we hope people can join us to help raise money for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal by bidding for their amazing prints.”

Those who want to donate to the appeal or bid for the prints can do so in person at Velvet Moon, 1203 Argyle Street, Finnieston this Saturday from 10.00 – 17.00, or on the shop’s social channels, @velvetmoonglasgow on Facebook and Instagram.
