Glasgow Airport: Best time to book flights to avoid long queues

Airports and airlines are feeling the pressure as waves of customers are getting ready to jet off.

With international travel open and less than ever restrictions in force since the pandemic started, airports are inevitably busy.

But long queues at check-in and at security have left soon-to-be jet setters nervous about their trips.

However, according to experts, if you book flights for a particular time of day, you will be less likely to run into huge queues.

Speaking to the Express, an expert at The Family Vacation Guide stated: "Generally speaking, airports tend to be busiest in the mornings, with crowds tapering off throughout the day, especially before you get through security.

"Most people like to start their travels early in the day, and sometimes, depending on where you’re going, it’s necessary.

"The middle of the week tends to be less busy. People like to go away for weekends, which means bigger crowds at the airport.

"It also means higher airfares so if you’re looking to score a deal, be willing to travel mid-week."

Booking a flight in the early before the morning rush, could be a way to avoid the queues if you also need to leave at the start of the day.

However, if you book flights in the evening and night, travellers should be wary that later flights could be susceptible to knock-on delays caused by problems throughout the day.

In terms of what day to book on, Friday, Saturday and Sunday tend to be the busiest days of the week as the majority are off from school and work.

If you can be flexible, booking through the week can offer an easier time at the airport as well as a usually offering flights at a cheaper price.
