Gladiators revival hosts announced and how to get tickets to be in the audience

The Chase’s Bradley Walsh and his son Barney have been confirmed as the hosts of the Gladiators revival. The BBC confirmed the news on Wednesday, May 3.

The popular show, which originally released in 1992, is set to return later this year. It is Gladiators’ second revival with the first produced for Sky 1 in 2008.

Bradley and Barney already have somewhat of a Gladiators connection as Bradley’s wife (and Barney’s mum) was head choreographer for the Gladiator cheerleaders on the original series. Do you think the father and son duo are a good choice? Let us know in the comments.

"Bradley and Barney, are you ready?" The new hosts of Gladiators have been confirmed by the BBC (PA)

Speaking of joining the series Bradley said: “Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show. I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of GLADIATORS!!! Saturday night family entertainment at its best...ARE YOU READY ?!“

Viewers will no doubt recognise Bradley and Barney from their ITV series Breaking Dad (ITV)

Barney added: “Gladiators has been a massive part of our family and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this iconic show. I’m so excited for everyone to see the spectacle, elite athletes and fantastic family entertainment that is GLADIATORS.”

The new series of Gladiators will see a new generation of superhuman Gladiators compete against a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of speed and strength. They will take part in a series of brand new games alongside classic challenges including fan-favourites Duel, Hang Tough and The Eliminator.

Audiences can be the first to experience the power of the new Gladiators by applying for free tickets here. The show will be filmed at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield in June.
