Bottoms, Ru Paul's Drag Race, Ted Lasso, and Reneé Rapp emerged as the big winners at the 35th GLAAD Media Awards held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The event, hosted by Wayne Brady, saw Oprah Winfrey receiving the Vanguard award and Niecy Nash-Betts honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award.
The awards ceremony, which took place on Thursday night, featured special musical performances by Chloe Bailey and Kate Hudson. The GLAAD Media Awards, established in 1990, recognize outstanding contributions in film, television, journalism, and music that accurately portray the LGBTQ community.
Among the winners were 'Fellow Travelers' for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, 'Ted Lasso' for Outstanding Comedy Series, and 'Yellowjackets' for Outstanding Drama Series. 'RuPaul's Drag Race' clinched the award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, while 'Bottoms' won in the category of Outstanding Film - Wide Theatrical Release.
Other notable winners included 'Monica' for Outstanding Film - Limited Theatrical Release, Renné Rapp for Outstanding Music Artist, and David Archuleta for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist. The awards also recognized exceptional children's programming, with 'Ada Twist: Scientist' and 'Hailey's On It!' receiving accolades.
Special recognition was given to various media projects, including 'The Dads,' 'Love in Gravity,' and 'Relighting Candles.' The event also highlighted Spanish-language media, with awards for 'La Noches De Tefia' and 'Adolescentes trans relatan su experiencia – Noticiero Telemundo.'
GLAAD's New York Ceremony on May 11 will reveal the remaining winners. The awards continue to celebrate individuals and media that champion inclusivity and representation of the LGBTQ community.
