Give your designer sneakers the love they deserve

LG Styler ShoeCare & ShoeCase unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics tradeshow in Berlin

Ardent sneakerheads, it’s time to jump for joy. There’s a whole new way to show off your impeccable taste in trainers, while also keeping them ready to step out on the town.

The LG Styler ShoeCase, unveiled at the IFA consumer electronics tradeshow in Berlin, is an elegant transparent display box with a subtle spotlight and a 360-degree Lazy Susan turntable, so you can position your prized beauties at the optimal angle to attract admiring glances. If you fear that natural light might discolour your precious cargo, breathe easy. The panes are said to be protected against the potentially ruinous effects of exposure to UV light, and will keep humidity in check too. Each ShoeCase is scarcely bigger than the fancy footwear that it showcases and a modular design makes it child’s play to stack up to four of these swanky display cases into a monolithic slab of street couture.

Those willing to go the extra mile to ensure their footwear is always boxfresh will be even more intrigued by the matching LG Styler ShoeCare, also showcased at IFA 2022 for the first time. Put simply, this is a narrow cabinet that will refresh up to four pairs of shoes at once, with a clever combination of steam cleaning or moisture absorption to dry sopping sneakers. LG insists this new gizmo can remove odours, too, and will clean two entirely different types of shoe simultaneously, taking around thirty minutes per cycle. If this sounds fanciful, bear in mind that it follows hot on the heels of the LG Styler, a popular wardrobe-shaped machine that steam-cleans hanging garments at the push of a button.

The price and availability of these new products remains unconfirmed but the LG Styler for clothes costs a whopping £1,899 making it better suited to those who worry more about the colour of their Balenciagas than their gas bill. For the rest of us, it’s an enticing idea.
