Two Erling Haaland goals on his return to his birthplace ruined Leeds United's return to Premier League football after the winter break as a 3-1 loss to Manchester City at Elland Road saw them stay in 15th place in the table.
The deadlock was broken just 10 seconds before the end of the allotted stoppage time in the first half as City broke on the counter-attack. A Riyad Mahrez effort was saved by Whites goalkeeper Illan Meslier but only pushed into the path of Rodri who tucked it home for 1-0.
Their lead was doubled just five minutes after the break, as Erling Haaland found his 19th goal of the season after a poor pass from captain Liam Cooper was intercepted by Jack Grealish and calmly put through to the Norwegian who tapped it in from six yards out.

Haaland didn't to be asked twice to find his second of the match as he again linked up with Grealish to fire the ball past Meslier to make it 3-0.
Pascal Struijk headed home an incredible Sam Greenwood corner to make the score 3-1, and gave the home supporters some sense of belief that a result could be salvaged however unlikely it was.
