Bukayo Saka's 35th minute goal earned Arsenal a narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road - a result that perhaps didn't reflect the performance. Play was delayed in the second minute for up to 35 minutes due to a technical issue. A power cut had caused the on-field officials to lose contact with both the VAR station at Stockley Park, as well as with the goal line technology system.
Rodrigo's mistake led to Arsenal's eventual winner as his cross-field pass presented Saka with a golden opportunity to break into the box and dispatch an unerring finish past Illan Meslier. Jesse Marsch replaced Rodrigo for Patrick Bamford at the break but he suffered a similar misfortune.
After having a goal ruled out for the softest of pushes, Bamford then missed from the spot just past the hour-mark. He was again involved in the drama at the death when Chris Kavanagh pointed to the spot and sent off Gabriel for kicking out at Bamford. In the end, Bamford was penalised for a push on Gabriel in the build-up and Kavanagh swapped the red card for a yellow.
Leeds failed to translate their dominance into goals, especially in the second half, which saw them miss a number of key chances. How did you rate the contest? Who did you think impressed and who disappointed? Have your say in our player rating tool below..
