Gisele Bündchen has broken her silence about her divorce from Tom Brady after 13 years of marriage.
The former couple announced their split last October on Instagram amid speculation that Brady’s decision to un-retire from NFL had caused a rift in their relationship.
However, the Brazilian supermodel, 42, has finally addressed the speculation in a new cover story for Vanity Fair and denied that she gave the seven-time Super Bowl champion an ultimatum to choose between their family and his career.
Maintaining her support for the sports star, she shared: “Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever. If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me. I want him to achieve and to conquer.
“I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart.”
Yet, when Bündchen was asked whether there were stories written about their divorce that weren’t true, she said: “Everything. What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle. It’s not so black and white.”
The couple met in December 2006 when they were set up on a blind date by mutual friend Ed Razek, the former CMO of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company.
Three years later they married and went on to welcome two children: Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine. Brady is also dad to 15-year-old son Jack from his relationship with Bridget Moynahan.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, who was 26 years old when she met Brady, admitted that divorce wasn’t something she had envisioned for herself and said it was “heartbreaking” when a relationship doesn’t work out “but you can only do your part.”
She added that their marriage ended as they grew apart not because they didn’t love each other, revealing, “we realise that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make.”
