Girls outshine boys again by over 3% margin in Class XII

DEHRADUN: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the results of Class X and XII exams on its official website on Friday. The overall pass percentage for Class X was 94.4% and that for Class XII was 92.71%. Like previous years, girls performed better than boys by a margin of 1.41% in Class X (95.21% girls passed compared to 93.8% boys) and by a margin of 3.29% in Class XII (94.54% girls compared to 91.25% boys).

The Dehradun region, which includes 13 Uttarakhand districts and eight from Uttar Pradesh, came in 15th out of 16 CBSE regions for Class XII, with a pass percentage of 85.39%, and 12th for Class X with a pass percentage of 93.43%.

Officials said that because of the pandemic, examinations were conducted in two terms, the syllabus for which was rationalised by 30%. While CBSE will issue merit certificate to 0.1% students with highest marks, no merit list has been declared by the board.

In Uttarakhand, Abhinav Uniyal from Rishikesh and Harman Babbar from Rudrapur got the highest marks (498 each) in Class XII followed by Mansi Sethi and Saurabh Singh from Roorkee and Pitthoragarh respectively. Singh became the Kumaon topper with 497 marks. Agrima Pradhan has emerged as Class X topper.

Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Indian Military Academy Dehradun performed well. Suman with 98.6% from Humanities was the school topper, followed by Gopal Chamoli from Science with 96%. In Class X, Jayant Budaniya came in first with 95.8%, followed by Bhoomika Gupta (94.6%).

“My exams went well but this result was still unexpected. Most of my time was focused on economics, geography and history. My focus will now be on preparing for civil services along with BA Economics,” said Suman.

Bhavya Gujral (497) and Arjun Chawla (492) from Humanities and Science streams respectively were toppers for DPS, Dehradun, where Shardul Pradhan (494) and Atharv Shaily (493) were the Class X toppers.

From Welham Boys’ school, Viraj Lohia from Commerce stream with 98.4% topped, followed by Darshan Jain of the same stream with 96.6%. In Class X, Sankalp Gupta, with 99% remained the topper, followed by Akshar Singh Rawat with 97%. At Selaqui International school, 25% of the students who appeared for the Class X exams secured above 90%. Neelanjana Gupta Choudhary (99.25%) was the school toppers.
