Girls Aloud ‘reunite for comeback’ after 10 years with ‘music video for new song already shot’

Girls Aloud are set to release their first single in over 10 years, according to a new report.

The British girl group are believed to be have shot a music video in tribute to their late bandmate Sarah Harding, who died of breast cancer at the age of 39 in September 2021.

A source told The Sun the foursome had secretly got together to shoot the video which is said to see them play “superhero characters complete with Wonder Woman-style costumes and capes” at a North London studio.

Cheryl, 40, Nadine Coyle, 38, Kimberley Walsh, 41, and Nicola Roberts, 38, achieved 21 top-ten singles alongside Harding after forming on 2002's Pop Stars: The Rivals.

They also won a BRIT Award in 2009 for their track, The Promise, and achieved four UK number one singles before they split in March 2013.

After much anticipation, the band are finally set to make a comeback with a new album and a “massive” UK tour in 2024.

A source told the outlet: “This has been one of the best-kept secrets in pop, but it’s actually happening now.

“The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective.

“Suddenly the reunion which had seemed totally impossible for so long just felt a totally natural thing to do – in Sarah’s honour.”

Following reports of their reunion, they have also been tipped to appear at Glastonbury 2024 as a foursome.

Odds have been absolutely slashed by bookies, with Ladbrokes making Girls Aloud 3/1 to take to the stage at Worthy Farm next year.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes Live explained the odds, saying Girls Aloud “have sent the British pop world into complete meltdown this morning with the announcement of a new single… and given the reception they’ve had, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them take centre stage at Glastonbury next year.”

Glastonbury line-up rumours are coming thick and fast ahead of next year’s festival, with Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay named in leaks of the 2024 line-up – however organiser Emily Eavis said the leaks were ‘untrue’ and pleaded with people to be patient.

She previously said they already have the Sunday afternoon legends performer slot booked in, revealing it’s a female star but sharing no other information.
