Girl, five, dies in Devon horror crash as family's BMW involved in collision with Land Rover

A girl aged five has died in a horror crash in east Devon, police have said.

The two-vehicle collision happened on the A35 near Honiton at around 2.35pm on Sunday (January 16).

The incident, at Fern Lane, Wilmington, involved a white BMW 318 and a blue Land Rover Discovery Sport, DevonLive reports.

Devon and Cornwall police said the driver of the Land Rover, a woman in her 50s from the Tooting area of London area was taken to Dorchester Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s plus a female passenger also in her 30s was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be serious.

An eight-year-old girl remains in hospital after sustaining serious injuries, but these are not thought to be life-threatening.

The five-year-old girl who died was also a passenger in the BMW.

All four in the BMW were part of the same family from the Saltash area of Cornwall.

Road closures were in place until around 10pm on Sunday,

Police want to hear from witnesses or those with dash-cam footage of either vehicle.
