Girl attacks security guard outside shop after being 'caught stealing sweets'

A young girl was filmed apparently attacking a security guard after she was allegedly caught stealing sweets by staff.

Video taken by onlookers from across the street appears to show the girl in a black top kicking and attempting to hit the worker outside the EuroGiant shop in Phibsborough, Dublin.

It is alleged that the girl had attempted to steal sweets but was spotted and immediately questioned by staff in the store, Dublin Live reports.

She refused to leave and was removed from the shop.

The alleged incident took place on Saturday evening.

Staff member Anna, said that the girl 'is known to the shop' and allegedly tried to steal before.

She said: "When she was stopped by the security guard, she started to shout and become aggressive.

"He had to use force in order to get her outside as she refused to move.

"He got her outside but she was still arguing with him and still didn't want to go.

"She was waving her hands in his face, trying to kick him and she scratched him a few times which left him bleeding.

"We know her, she's a regular visitor to our shop but she's not allowed shop in here. She has tried things like this before."

A garda spokeswoman said: "A female allegedly assaulted a security guard at a shop after she had allegedly stolen property and investigations are ongoing."
