Girl also injured in rollercoaster incident at Oakwood Theme Park

A girl was also hurt in a rollercoaster incident at Oakwood Theme Park in which a man was injured, it has been reported. It is believed that the child is the man's daughter and was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident on Sunday, BBC Wales has said.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) confirmed an incident happened on the Treetops rollercoaster in the Pembrokeshire park on Sunday (October 23) and inspectors are investigating the circumstances. People at the theme park were told to leave following the incident, as crews from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Wales Air Ambulance attended. According to Dr Harriet Lloyd from Carmarthen who spoke to the BBC, her husband and five-year-old son were at the front of the ride in which the incident happened. It's been reported that carriages had wobbled and that the man was thrown out of the back of the ride.

According to Dr Lloyd, her husband heard people screaming in the carriages at the back. She told the BBC: "He turned around and saw a girl aged about 14 screaming 'Stop'. A man in the carriage with her had been thrown out. It looked like the last few carriages were loose and wobbling. He'd been thrown out (and) other passengers were holding the carriage because it had become a bit loose."

On Monday, a spokesperson for the theme park said they were "deeply saddened" that a visitor had sustained an injury after they reportedly fell out of the ride at the theme park. It said the park was co-operating fully with the HSE investigation and that the health, safety and wellbeing of its visitors and staff was of "paramount importance".

The park has been shut and will reopen Saturday, but the Treetops ride on which the incident happened will remain closed. HSE said it would not provide any further details relating to the investigation at this stage.
