Bexleyheath bus crash: Girl, 9, killed in horror collision in south London named by police as Ada Bicakci

Police have named the nine-year-old girl who died after being hit by a bus in Bexleyheath as Ada Bicakci.

They issued two photos of the girl as they continued to appeal for witnesses to the incident on Saturday August 3.

They said Ada, who lived locally and went to school in the area, was a Turkish-British national and keen gymnast and swimmer.

One of the pictures, approved for release by her family, shows her donating her hair for charity after having it cut.

Her family have said that following her death, Ada's organs were donated to help six other children. She will have a multi-faith funeral.

Her family are being supported by specialist officers and requested their privacy is respected.

Officers were called at 09:05 to reports of a crash in Watling Street near the junction with Halcot Avenue.

Ada was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service with life-threatening injuries. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, she died in the afternoon of Monday 5 August 5.

A five-year-old boy was also taken to hospital as a precaution. They were with a family member at the time of the collision.

The male driver of the bus was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug-driving. He has been bailed to a date in early November pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are leading the investigation

Any witnesses to the collision who are yet to speak with police, or anyone with dash came footage, are asked to call 101 quoting reference CAD 2309/03AUG.
