Girl, 7, and woman airlifted to hospital after two-car crash on A90

A seven-year-old girl and a woman in her forties have been rushed to hospital following a two-car crash on the A90.

Emergency crews attended the scene of the crash which took place at around 2.15pm yesterday on the Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, at the Cortes junction.

The youngster was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The 43-year-old woman was taken to the same hospital by air ambulance.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Police Scotland initially closed the road to carry out enquiries into the smash.

The road was later reopened around 8pm.

A 42-year-old man has subsequently been reported in connection with road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.15pm on Saturday, 26 March, officers were called to a two car crash on the A90, Aberdeen to Fraserburgh road, at the Cortes junction.

"A seven-year-old girl was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance and a 43-year-old woman was taken to the same hospital by air ambulance.

"The road was opened around 8pm.

"A 42-year-old man has been reported in connection with road traffic offences."
