Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares Rangers transfer expectation with Rabbi Matondo deal edging closer

Giovanni van Bronckhorst expects Rangers to add more new faces to their squad over the coming days.

After a slow start, the transfer window kicked into life this week at Ibrox after the arrival of Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence. The Croatian striker made his debut in the abandoned friendly against Sunderland in the Algarve on Saturday night, which lasted 45 minutes due to floodlight failure.

Lawrence jetted out to join the squad in Portugal, but wasn't in the squad for the meeting with the Black Cats. A deal for Schalke's Welsh winger Rabbi Matondo is thought to be close as van Bronckhorst continues to bolster his attacking options.

The Ibrox club have reportedly had bids rejected for Angers winger Angelo Fulgini. The 25-year-old has a year left on his deal with the League 1 side, but they are thought to be looking for a fee in the region of €6million to let him go this summer. Mainz have also been credited with an interest.

Van Bronckhorst was giving nothing away in terms of names. However, he did share that director of football Ross Wilson was working on deals. A number of those are expected to get over the line over the next week or so as the Scottish Cup winners gear up for their Premiership opener away to Livingston on Saturday, July 30.

“Ross is busy," said the Gers boss. Of course we want to add more players to our squad and he is busy talking with players, talking with agents and clubs.

“Now we have so many people involved in those talks. I am hopeful that we can add more players in the coming week. We are busy. We have several players that we are watching and talking with. When it is 100 per cent we will communicate.”
