GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST is confident Rangers can finish the job against PSV and clinch their spot in the Champions League this term.
The Eredivisie giants are the favourites to progress after a 2-2 draw at Ibrox in the first leg of their play-off round clash on Tuesday night.
Rangers must now find a way to win in Eindhoven as they seek to end their 12-year absence from the group stages and bank a significant European windfall.
Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence were on target for Van Bronckhorst's side and the Dutchman has no doubt that a historic victory can be secured on the road next time out.
Van Bronckhorst said: "I’m a very positive person. Of course we are able to go through.
"We showed that last season that we can get a result away from home. It’s going to be a difficult game. It will be similar to the game today but I’m confident we can go through. It’s still even.
"We go there and play for everything and that’s the group stages of the Champions League. But PSV are a quality side.
"If you want to go to the group stages in the last qualification round all the teams are good. This is the level. It’s about getting the details right and we will need to start well, be confident on the ball, and try to create as many chances as possible and be strong at set-pieces and be strong in attacking set-pieces.
"They are a strong team. They are also fighting for the Champions League. They have played in the Champions League in the last few years.
"Last year they didn't qualify but if you look at their side they are quality players. To have 90 minutes of dominance on the pitch, it doesn’t work like that.
"We have to pick the moments when you feel they are there to attack them like we did in the first half. Those are the moments you have to make sure you score goals.
"And in the difficult moments you have to be compact to make sure they are not going to score against you. That’s European football, that’s Champions League football and that’s what we have to do again next week."
Rangers booked their place in the final qualifying stage with a comeback victory over Union Saint-Gilloise as they recovered from a 2-0 defeat in Belgium and produced a rousing performance at Ibrox second time around.
The dynamic of the tie is different on this occasion, though, as Van Bronckhorst prepares to return to his home nation and seeks to earn a famous win at the Philips Stadion to overcome former international team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy.
PSV made the most of defensive errors on Tuesday night as Ibrahim Sangare and Armando Obispo netted to give them the edge in the tie and Rangers must now raise their levels once again if they are to avoid dropping into the Europa League this season.
Van Bronckhorst said: "We need to start well, we need to be confident on the ball, try to create as many chances as possible, be strong at set-pieces, be strong at set-pieces in attack. I think we can have a performance next week to go to the next round.
"I have confidence in my team and I am sure with the desire we have and the passion, it is still 90 minutes against a good team but we will be there next week.
"Playing at home is an advantage but we will be there next week because we want to be in the next phase of the Champions League which is the group stage.
"It is a difficult ground against a quality opponent but if you have a goal and a desire to reach something then you can get a performance you want and that's what we have to do next week."
