Gio van Bronckhorst Rangers future discussed by Barry Ferguson as Malik Tillman handed 'bored' tag

Barry Ferguson believes Malik Tillman looked BORED during Rangers' defeat at St Johnstone and says Giovanni van Bronckhorst will get until at least the World Cup break.

The Light Blues boss is under increased pressure after his side fell seven points behind Ange Postecoglou and his Celtic outfit following their defeat at McDiarmid Park. They also dropped recent home points against Livingston with the fan unrest building. James Tavernier was confronted by a number of angry supporters following the defeat in Perth. It's not just domestic matters with the Champions League delivering six defeats from six and also the unwanted tag as the 'worst ever' group stage team after a -20 goal difference.

Rangers face a massive game with Hearts on Wednesday night before they travel to St Mirren ahead of the World Cup shutdown. Club legend Ferguson reckons Van Bronckhorst will survive in his role until at least then. He also is in no doubt over the 'unbelievable ability' on loan Tillman has at his disposal but reckons he looked bored against St Johnstone when losing the ball - with Fergie calling on the midfield to do the dirty work as well.

He told Go Radio: "I look at the three in midfield and it's not like they're bad players - Lundstram, Sands and Tillman.

"In terms of Tillman, I thought at times he looked bored on the pitch when he lost the ball.

"There's no doubt the guy has unbelievable technical ability but you've got to do the dirty side of the game. That's what a number of the Rangers players aren't doing at this moment of time."

On Van Bronckhorst, he added: "He's got a contract until 2025 and a number of backroom staff, four or five coaches. You wake up this morning and you're thinking 'is something going to happen?'

"It's clear he's going to go until the World Cup break and see what happens from there. But I just feel like I'm repeating myself.

"You need a response, you need to react, you need more aggression.' I feel I'm saying the same thing every week.

"I thought they had a bit of that at Ibrox but then you go and have a poor performance against Ajax and lose to St Johnstone. No disrespect, but they should be taking care of St Johnstone.

"St Johnstone were throwing bodies on the line. That's what Rangers should be doing."
