Gio van Bronckhorst pinpoints Rangers momentum shift that sparked rousing Livingston comeback

Delighted Gio van Bronckhorst reckons Antonio Colak's goal that was ruled out for offside was the catalyst behind Rangers' stirring comeback win over Livingston.

The 47-year-old was jubilant after watching his team battle back from a goal down to secure all three points on the opening day of the season. A deadly quick-fire double from Scott Arfield and skipper James Tavernier left the Lions reeling as their resistance was breached.

And the Dutchman was left pleased by his side's determination to see off David Martindale's battlers who were ahead for 70 minutes thanks to the impressive Joel Nouble's deft lob after five minutes All eyes now turn to Tuesday night's mammoth Champions League third round first leg qualifier away to Union Saint-Gilloise.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "The start of the game wasn't good from our side, we didn't look sharp with the goal against us. It took us out of the game, we didn't play our normal game in the first half, especially when we had the ball, not taking the right positions, not taking the right zones, in the right moments.

"Second half we did much better, we created a lot of chances to score and in the end I'm happy with the two goals we scored because it means three vital points.

And Van Bronckhorst is convinced the rousing second half display was sparked by Colak 's goal that appeared to be wrongly ruled out for offside. The Croatia international was left cursing his luck after the flag was raised but van Bronckhorst is convinced that set his side en route to victory.

He added: "I think the goal Antonio scored helped us in the game, although it didn't count. It gave us the belief to keep pushing, keep pushing. I think we scored some great goals from Tav, of course, Scotty who came on and scored a vital equaliser, first half we didn't play well, we conceded the first goal very easy but in the second half we watched the team I like to see, dominating the game."

And new signing Ridvan Yilmaz will meet his new team-mates tomorrow after sealing his switch to Rangers. The Ibrox boss told Sportsound: "Ridvan is going to train with us tomorrow.

Alfredo already is but I'm not sure if he is going to be ready to be involved in the squad on Tuesday. Rabbi will train as well so we have more players to choose from. We're in a good place and we just have to keep going."
