Gio van Bronckhorst in Rangers injury update as he looks to Ibrox big guns after Livingston slog

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is relishing the chance to get his big guns back to help get Rangers firing again.

The champions scrapped their way to a 1-0 win over Livingston on a miserable night at Ibrox where conditions played their part.

But Van Bronckhorst insists it was all about just getting the three points as they stayed four points clear in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Rangers were without a clutch of key men as Scott Arfield came off the bench to grab the only goal of the game.

However, with a trip to Ross County on Saturday lunchtime followed by the massive Old Firm derby against Celtic at Parkhead the stars are coming back in time.

Ryan Kent returns from suspension, Joe Aribo from international duty and Scott Arfield, Kemar Roofe and Ryan Jack all stepped up their return from injury as they came off the bench against the Lions.

James Sands, Scott Wright and Cedric Itten all failed to impress but Van Bronckhorst said: "Sometimes you have to go with the players available.

“Tonight was about getting the win. We will have more options on Saturday. But we have (Ryan) Kent, (Joe) Aribo back Saturday and now Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Kemar (Roofe) all coming back in."

And, speaking to Rangers TV, he added: “I’m really pleased for Scott and the team because although it was difficult we kept fighting to win the game so it was a big three points.

“It was good to have Scott in the squad and able to put him in the game and the same for Kemar and Ryan as well so it’s looking good because the injured players are coming back and we have Joe and Ryan Kent back for the weekend.

“I’m very proud because it was a difficult game, very difficult circumstances so if you see the chances we created in the first half - not so in the second half - and don’t score then it’s going to be difficult.

“The time ticks on but I’m happy with the substitutions we could do. Scott has been out for a while but he could play the last stage of the game and he changed it.

“When you play against a low block you need to be really accurate in your passing and movement and the speed of play we wanted was very difficult because of the circumstances.

“That’s why we were struggling to find the spaces but we created enough chances to win the game so I was really pleased when at least one went in."
