Giovanni van Bronckhorst has urged his Rangers players to start on the front foot at home to Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon - or they will risk fans airing their discontent as his beleaguered side aim to close the gap on Celtic.
The Light Blues have failed to flatter in their last five matches. Overseeing comprehensive 3-0 and 7-1 defeats to Napoli and Liverpool respectively in the Champions League alongside a measly draw against Livingston in the Scottish Premiership last week, the Dutchman can only boast two victories in that period - and even they were uninspiring as they limped to a 2-1 win over Motherwell and crawled to a 1-0 win over second-tier side Dundee.
Fans of the Ibrox club are becoming increasingly frustrated; not only are results suffering, but the football that on offer is way below the standard that the club has produced in the last two seasons. And as a result, Van Bronckhorst has urged his stars to start as they mean to go on in order to keep fans on his side.
"Yeah, I mean it's the way we start. We have to start positive on the front foot, and that also will get the reaction of the fans," Van Bronckhorst said.
"That is a normal dynamic you have in games, and you don't want to start the way we started last week or the fans will be against you in the way of that they are not agreeing with what happens on the pitch.
"That is why we have to start well organised with energy, with created chances, postive thinking, and aggression. That is how we need to start tomorrow."
