Giovanni van Bronckhorst has taken aim at his Rangers side’s performance in a slender 1-0 win over Championship side Dundee
The Light Blues boss demanded improvements from the last Ibrox outing as he handed opportunities to fringe stars for the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final. But a very flat display saw Rangers hang on with Dundee threatening to score an equaliser. Boos rang around Ibrox at full time as fans voiced their disappointment, but a semi-final with Aberdeen was booked nonetheless .
Rangers were a goal to the good in just 10 minutes after Steven Davis netted but there was little else to shout about throughout the game with starts handed to Ridvan Yilmaz and Alfredo Morelos. Van Bronckhorst aired his frustrations at full time, and when asked by Premier Sports if he got the improved performance he asked for, said: “No, I don’t think so. I think a little bit but I don’t think we can happy with the performance today.

“We were not convincing. I think first half we started okay going 1-0 up. We dominated the first half, they didn’t have any chances, and we kept looking for the goal with our runs. The last pass in the final third wasn’t accurate enough to score the second goal.”
Van Bronckhorst slammed the performance for the last half hour of the game, when Dundee began to grow into the contest. He continued: “In the second half we started well then after 10 -15 minutes we dropped and couldn’t create any big chances and lost the ball too many times.
“I think Dundee had too many moments in the game in the second half so I wasn’t happy with the performance. We couldn’t reach our wings quickly enough. We were waiting instead of taking opportunities to create chances.
“The performance in the last half an hour could and should have been better.”
