Kenny Miller admits Gio questions 'need to be asked' as he fears Rangers management have lost belief in themselves

Kenny Miller reckons the Rangers players don’t believe in manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s methods or each other right now.

The manager and squad are getting it from all sides after dropping seven points off the pace in the Premiership title race and being roundly beaten in the Champions League to the extent that they are now the worst team to have competed in the group stage.

The pressure is only intensifying on van Bronckhorst with many fans already adamant his time is up and should be replaced before Celtic pull even further ahead at the top of the table. A midweek home clash with Hearts before taking on St Mirren prior to the World Cup break could be enough to save the Dutchman if he gets two positive results. Drop any more points and it’s almost certainly curtains after less than a year in the Ibrox hotseat that he replaced Steven Gerrard in.

Former teammate Miller sees a real lack of belief amongst the players. And it's not just confined to each other, with the ex-striker suggesting that they aren’t buying into what the manager wants them to do.

“There’s a lot missing at the moment,” Miller told Sky Sports. “Within the team there’s a real lack of confidence. They’ve been battered from pillar post over the course of the season and not just with the heavy Champions League defeats, but the domestic performances as well.

“There’s a lack of belief in each other and potentially even in the management about how they are going about their business at the moment. There’s a real creativity missing. When you look at the players they’ve got within the building, it’s incredible that we’re saying that when you’ve got guys like your Malik Tillman's and Ryan Kent's. Two forwards in Colak and Morelos, Steven Davis - they’ve got some really good players.

When asked if his former teammate had earned the right to try and turn it around after the World Cup break, Miller replied: “That’s not for me to say. I’ve got my own thoughts on it but within that building behind me, there needs to be some serious thought going into that question because there’s something not right at the moment. We never want to see managers lose their jobs. That’s not something we like to say. But there needs to be questions asked and a lot of thought going into it and there needs to be improvements.”
