Ginuwine 'recovering' after star 'passed out' when tank of water magic trick went wrong

Ginuwine's team have updated fans after he 'passed out in a tank of water'.

The chart-topping R&B artist was involved in a dangerous Criss Angel magic trick which went ultimately went horribly wrong.

He was attempting to hold his breath while submerged under water as the 51-year-old was trying to 'conquer his fears' for the stunt.

Fans were left lurch about the star's condition after a video showed the terrifying ordeal.

Now one of his representatives has cleared the air and insists that "everything is ok" and that Ginuwine has "made a full recovery".

"He was conquering a fear. Fortunately everything is OK as he was working with Criss Angel, who's the best in the business," they told People.

He was performing the trick for Criss Angel’s Magic with the Stars in Las Vegas.

For the stunt, the Pony singer was submerged under water in a glass cube while holding his breath.

He began to hit the sides of the tank to signal his distress and paramedics were reportedly called to the scene, with the musician being carried away unconscious.

The songwriter was pulled out of the cube by staffers who attempted to calm him down before he ultimately passed out, as seen in a video obtained by MailOnline.

A source told the outlet: "It all happened so fast, it was like he got tapped out in a fight.

"In the show he was trying to overcome his fear of being under water as he couldn’t hold his breath for longer than 15 seconds before trying the stunt out.

"Although he failed in rehearsals, he still went ahead with the stunt on the show and everyone was in tears."

The Mirror contacted Ginuwine's representative for comment.

Criss posted a teaser for Magic With the Stars on Instagram on Tuesday and Ginuwine commented: "My folks." It’s unclear if the comment came before or after the accident.

Magic With the Stars is expected to premiere on October 22 and sees a host of celebrities train with Criss to create amazing magic performances. Criss will join Loni Love and magician Lance Burton as judges on the new show.

Comedian Eddie Griffin will host the show from the Criss Angel Theatre at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Las Vegas.

Celebrities appearing on the show include Donny Osmond, Frankie Muniz, Brec Bassinger, Debbie Gibson, Matt Walsh, Flavor Flav, Randy Couture, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
