Gino D'Acampo perfectly pranked with cake in Liverpool restaurant

Gino D'Acampo was pranked with a familiar face at his Liverpool restaurant.

The celebrity chef returned to his Old Hall Street restaurant to mingle with diners, giving them the famous Gino experience in person. An event which took place last week saw him signing copies of his book for fans before he set off on the remainder of hi busy schedule.

The Liverpool venue, who work closely with Gino, went above and beyond by offering him a farewell present until the next time he's in town. Calling upon the talents of professional chocolatier Oliver Dunn, lovingly known as Oli The Choc online, the gift resulted in a comedic smackdown against one of his on-screen counterparts.

The restaurant presented the chef with a smash cake - created specifically to be destroyed - but with an image of fellow culinarian, Gordon Ramsey displayed in chocolate. Upon reveal, Gino lets out, "What the f***?" for the restaurant to hear over his microphone.

Giving the diners a closer look, he lifts the entire cake single handily and gives it a tour of the restaurant for all to see. Oli told the Liverpool Echo the idea came to him and their mutual pal, Jemma Steel, who works closely with Gino, in order to prank him before he sets off.

Oli said: "[The restaurant] was in on it too. They were all captivated and he was like 'What the hell is this?'" The chocolatier has worked numerous times alongside Gino and even gave him a subtle hint about the prank.

He added: "I saw Gino the night before and he asked me if I was going to be in Liverpool for the event. I said 'I can't make it but I'll be there in spirit.'"

Gino jokingly refused to destroy the cake, stating Gordon is a friend of his, before issuing a "f*** that" and smashing the cake to pieces. The comedy violence was backed by an uproar of cheers as diners stood to get a better view of the chaos.
