Gino D'Acampo 'confirms' new role on This Morning after 'blunder' and Dermot O'Leary's 'one-time only' appearance dig

Gino D'Acampo cheekily 'confirmed' he has a new role on This Morning after making Holly Willoughby and Dermot O'Leary squirm during his return to the show. It has been weeks since the Italian chef spent some time in the kitchen on the ITV daytime show.

And as ever, during his appearance on Tuesday's edition of the popular programme, Gino made sure to make a bit of chaos. He was on hand to show viewers how to make his orange and pistachio tiramisu before returning later with some Italian cocktails.

But the Family Fortune host left co-hosts Holly, 42, and Dermot, 50, flustered when he asked whether he had missed "any news" over the past month during his time away. Introducing the celebrity chef, Dermot said: "It's been a while but Gino is finally allowed back in the This Morning kitchen."

Gino replied: "I was in Italy for a month and I can't wait to cook for all of you." He continued: "Everything is under control, I'm back. Any news? Anything in the last month that I should know of?" seemingly referring to the fact that This Morning has been hitting the headlines following Phillip Schofield's exit from the show and from ITV.

Dermot sat with a pen in his mouth looking slightly uncomfortable while Holly laughed while sat beside him on the famous sofa. "No news," Holly said smiling, as Gino replied: "No news, OK, good. so we can go straight into the cooking..."

But Holly warned him not to start yet as it wasn't his time. "Wait!" she shouted. "You just get yourself ready and set, we'll be back in just a moment. But Gino asked: "Why is Dermot not talking anymore, what's happened?" as Dermot joked: "We need to rephrase, Gino is back for a one-time only..."

As Gino clarified: "This is my last time?" Dermot quipped: "Well, we'll see how it goes." Holly tried to push on with the programme, reading her next links through giggles while Dermot looked straight into the camera and grimaced.

Later, after Gino showed off his tiramisu in the kitchen, the show returned from an ad break and Gino found himself in a different spot as he had taken Dermot's place behind the presenters' desk alongside Holly.

As the episode reopened, he could be heard asking Holly: "So that's the professor's gonna tell us about the mosquito?" Gino then continued: "Anyway, welcome back, still to come... which one, this one? It's the same thing," as he struggled with which camera to look at.

Holly told him: "No, red light means look at it, green light means don't." Gino then teased a longer presenting stint as he revealed: "Well, I'm rehearsing for September when I'm going to present this show," to which a laughing Holly said: "So I've just found out."

Gino continued his link and said: "We are not the only ones enjoying this weather, the high temperature have led to a boom in mosquitoes in the UK. Your turn." Holly told him: "It's still you!" Gino said: "It's still me?

"How do you stop the mosquito bite? If you're asking that question we have a professor here in the studio. We need a professor to tell us slap the mosquito? Our professor will be telling us more next. Next when?"

Gino then briefly took over hosting duties from Dermot (ITV)

Meanwhile, Dermot was over in the kitchen and attempted to give his best impression of Gino, who looked horrified, as Dermot said: "I can't believe this guys, how am I supposed to work with this? I'm going to make this later, I've got the recipe like my mama used to tell me."

Gino then replied: "He was taking the mick." They then tried to link up to the neighbouring Loose Women to hear the teaser for their show, as Ruth Langsford said: "Holly, have they been drinking? Do you need us to come and rescue you?"

Then later, at the end of the show, Gino jokingly 'confirmed' again that he will be back as a guest presenter on This Morning, which has still not signed up a permanent replacement for Phillip Schofield as he said: "Thank you everyone for having me here, I will see you in September when I will be presenting the show."

It came after he made a selection of Italian-inspired cocktails for Holly and Dermot and left This Morning viewers thinking he had made a sweary blunder when sharing the name of one peach-based drink which he called, Gino & The Giant Peach.

@Boppity_Boo34 laughed: "Thought he said b***h #ITVThisMorning." @SteveERobinson2 appeared to agree, posting: "Gino and the giant b***h #itvthismorning." While @pcmguru appeared distracted by both the misheard swear word and unfortunate turn of phrase.

They tweeted: "@Ginofantastico and the giant B***h. I like to take me wife up the gondola. Wtaf am I watching? @hollywills @radioleary #ThisMorning."
