Gini Wijnaldum deal 'gets green light' as former Liverpool star set for PSG exit

Jose Mourinho has reportedly been 'given the green light' to sign former Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum after a torrid season with French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Dutchman swapped Liverpool for Paris last summer after his contract at Anfield expired. However, his time at the Parc des Princes hasn't panned out exactly how he envisaged playing just under 2,000 minutes in all competitions.

Wijnaldum picked up an unwanted award in the form of the 'Ligue 1 Flop Signing of the Year' during the last campaign as Mauricio Pochettino bowed out by regaining their French title.

According to Sky Italy, the former Newcastle midfielder will be allowed to leave on a season-long loan to the Italian outfit but an agreement has yet to be finalised between both clubs.

The Parisians are in yet another transition after they replaced Pochettino with Christoph Galtier.

It has been reported that Roma have no intention of paying Wijnaldum's whopping £180,000-a-week contract with Tiago Pinto, Roma's Sporting Director, trying to persuade PSG to cover half of his salary.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Roma were closing in on a '£8m loan-to-buy agreement' with the former Reds icon.
