The New England Patriots will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in the season-opening game on Sunday.
There are many offensive weapons for the Bengals that the Patriots could use. However, with the offensive line being a major issue in New England, Orlando Brown Jr. is a logical pick for this week’s “Gimme Him” player on the opposing team.
Brown first started his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018. He spent two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2021 and 2022 before signing with Cincinnati before the 2023 season. The veteran tackle played on the left and right side in Baltimore, while exclusively playing on the left side in Kansas City.
Brown started in all 17 games for the Bengals last season and did not allow a sack. He is a Super Bowl champion and four-time Pro Bowler.
He would be the perfect fit for a Patriots offensive line still trying to find an identity. The Patriots have experimented with Chukwuma Okorafor and Vederian Lowe at left tackle, while Mike Onwenu and Caedan Wallace have worked in on the right side.
Depth is a huge concern right now for the Patriots at the position.
Brown would immediately solidify the line as a high-end left tackle. That would create a scenario where Onwenu could move back to guard, and the remaining tackles could compete for reps on the right side.
The line was a position group that should have been addressed in free agency, and now, the Patriots are scrambling for answers.
The offensive unit as a whole is a work in progress. Brown couldn’t solve all of their problems, but he could certainly fix their most glaring issue currently.
