The New York Giants (3-1) will visit the Green Bay Packers (3-1) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London this Sunday.
That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Packers’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.
Unlike in recent weeks, the Green Bay roster sports several quality players at key positions. And while most will immediately want to steal quarterback Aaron Rodgers, we’re not going to take that route.
Rodgers will be 39 by season’s end and although he’s still playing at a high level, the clock is ticking.
Linebacker Rashan Gary is another intriguing potential option, but the Giants already have Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux. It would beef up the team’s edge rush but also create a snap split among the three.
Ultimately, we decided on cornerback Rasul Douglas.
We realize Douglas isn’t among the handful of top stars that line Green Bay’s roster but he is a quality player who is ascending, and he comes at a position of need for the Giants. His 81.6 coverage grade is third among all NFL cornerbacks so far this season and he’s coming off a career-best season in 2021.
Douglas isn’t flashy but he would be a good player to pair with Adoree’ Jackson, and would likely further excel against team’s second and third wide receivers. He can play both inside and outside, and is a sound special teams player, adding to his overall versatility.
At 6-foot-2 and 209 pounds, Douglas would provide a nice additional piece to Wink Martindale’s defense.
What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Rasul Douglas or would you steal an entirely different player from the Green Bay Packers?
