Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from Jets

The New York Giants (2-5) will host the New York Jets (3-3) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon in their eighth game of the 2023 regular season.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Jets’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.

An offer for Giants fans

In looking over Gang Green’s roster, it’s clear that the options are abundant. They’ve got quality talent at multiple positions, including several at areas of need for the Giants.

Defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and linebacker C.J. Mosley seem like the most obvious choices, but the Giants are actually set at those two positions. Other options include offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker, wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.

There’s also the elephant in the room that is quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but we’re not going down that path.

Ultimately, we settled on second-year cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Although Gardner isn’t dominating in the same fashion he did as a rookie, he’s still one of the NFL’s highest-graded cornerbacks and would provide the Giants security if (when) Adoree’ Jackson departs via free agency next year.

Gardner may need work as a run defender, but his coverage is Darrelle Revis-esque. He would drastically improve Big Blue’s secondary alongside Deonte Banks and Tre Hawkins, giving the team a young three-headed monster for years to come.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Sauce Gardner or would you steal an entirely different player from the New York Jets?
