The New York Giants (5-9) will visit the Philadelphia Eagles (10-4) at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this coming Monday afternoon.
That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Eagles’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue for the second time this year.
In looking over Philadelphia’s roster, it’s abundantly clear that they’re bursting at the seams with talent. Many of their backups would be considered an upgrade over the Giants’ starters.
The real question is, where do you even begin?
Quarterback Jalen Hurts would have been an obvious answer just a few weeks ago but weaknesses in his game have recently been exposed. There’s also wide receiver DeVonta Smith, offensive tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, center Jason Kelce, Giants-killing running back Boston Scott, defensive lineman Jalen Carter, edge rusher Brandon Graham and the list goes on and on.
It was difficult to narrow the list down and several of their offensive linemen felt like the right way to go, but how can anyone pass over wide receiver A.J. Brown?
Yes, the Giants have a plethora of offensive issues that need to be addressed and without a quality O-line, talented skill position players mean little. However, assuming general manager Joe Schoen makes that a priority in the offseason, adding someone like Brown, a true game-changer, would help put Big Blue over the top.
In 14 games this season, Brown has hauled in 95 receptions for 1,314 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s on pace to eclipse his career-best numbers from 2022 and is a legitimate MVP candidate at the receiver position. He sports the fourth-highest PFF grade at his position but has taken 200-plus snaps more than anyone else inside the top-5.
What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick A.J. Brown or would you steal an entirely different player from the Philadelphia Eagles?
