Gillian McKeith says I'm A Celebrity was 'only worth it' for six-figure payday

Gillian McKeith says it was "worth it" going back on I'm A Celeb for the six figure pay day as she claims she was 'terrorised' by the experience.

The 63-year-old was asked back to the all star South Africa series after infamously fainting at the live trial during her original appearance in 2010, and it seems she hasn't changed much since then.

Gillian says she only agreed to go back and relive the torment due to the impressive pay check ITV offered.

The star has said that she managed to secure a six figure sum to go on the show for a second time, despite being one of the first to leave.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Gillian said that despite taking on the challenge for a second time, she is still scared of creepy crawlies.

She said: "No, I’m worse than ever. I left terrorised and it hasn’t gone away. I have lots of insect phobias, but spiders are the worst. I don’t want to get close up to spiders."

Gillian reminisced about the first time she went on the show in 2010.

She said that she was in "complete shock" when she realised what she was actually in for when she went in the jungle more than ten years ago.

She admitted: "I didn’t know the show. I thought it would be an experience and put me out of my comfort zone, but I didn’t understand until I got in. I was in complete shock. I hadn’t watched one episode.

"I knew it was in the jungle, but I thought it would be a TV set, we’d go there, film and then we’d go to a hotel at night."

However, Gillian said that she thought she would be staying in a hotel each night as on her first day she got sent to a fancy house on the Gold Coast.

She added: "The funny thing is, when I arrived in Australia the first night – that’s exactly what happened. I remember Sheryl Gascoigne, Stacey Solomon and I were somehow pitched against the boys and we won – not with my help, unfortunately.

"So we went to a big fancy house that night, an incredible home on the Gold Coast. I thought, 'This is going to be easy.' Boy was I in for a shock!"
