Gillian McKeith's most iconic moments on I'm a Celeb as star returns to the jungle

Gillian McKeith has returned to the jungle after she was introduced as a bombshell contestant on the first episode of the new ITV I'm a Celebrity All Stars show in South Africa last night.

The surprise arrival of the Scottish television presenter delighted fans who fondly remember Gillian's unforgettable antics on the original I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2010 but her fellow celeb co-stars did not seem as pleased.

A sneak peak of tonight's episode showed the drama already unfolding as McKeith's old co-star Shaun Ryder, who she famously feuded with on the 2010 series, appeared furious to learn of the holistic nutritionist's arrival.

'Jungle Gill', 63 was brought in via a mystery box at the end of last night's first episode as hosts, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, announced they had a surprise announcement.

Gillian is undoubtedly one of the show's most entertaining contestants of all time after her recurring fainting episodes and over dramatic responses during the hilarious Bush Tucker trials.

Here we take a look back at Gillian's most dramatic moments during her time in the Australian jungle..

Fainting episode

One of the biggest fan favourite moments on I'm a Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here! history is Gillian McKeith fainting during a live trial on the show in 2010.

The star had been nominated for her seventh consecutive bushtucker trial in the jungle when she collapsed much to the amusement of viewers and required an on site medic to step in.

Many accused McKeith of faking the stunt to get out of the task but the TV personality has maintained that she has a history of fainting and had not eaten much on the morning of the trial.

Excused from all trials

McKeith stirred up further controversy on the show after she was excused from taking part in all future Bush Tucker trials after receiving a 'sick note' on the show.

She riled up her fellow campmates after repeatedly refusing to take part or complete challenges which meant all the contestants were denied extra food due to her lack of effort.

Fed up fellow campmate Stacey Solomon told Gillian: "Honestly, Gill, if your phobia is that intense and that bad and you're having to get up and deal with it every day. It's hard for us to hear it as well."

However, Gillian shot back at the time, saying: "I have a television career and if I walk out on my contract I will not work in television again. That's the way it works."

Feuds with Shaun Ryder

Gillian McKeith clashed with fellow campmate Happy Mondays musician Shaun Ryder on multiple occasions throughout the 2010 series of the show.

After taking part in a challenge together that involved retrieving rubber ducks from freezing cold water, the singer referred to McKeith as a 'daft old bat' and said she would 'try the patience of a saint'.

Tensions rose between the two feuding co-stars again after McKeith told Ryder off for smoking in the camp and then for swearing at her during his angry outburst.

The musician later apologised for his temper with Gillian, later describing the pair as having a 'love hate relationship'. Ryder, however, seemed to hold the grudge as he on the other hand said McKeith was "a bit of a d***” who "just had no manners".

ITV bosses are eager to see whether the pair's rows will flare up again and have deliberately put them together for the Chest Challenge game in tonight's episode to try and win a treat for camp.

Ryder was visibly displeased when he learned of McKeith's arrival in the jungle on last night's episode as he told his fellow campmates ""Yeah... I nearly killed her."

The spin off show will see the most memorable campmates over the past 20 years being reunited in the jungle one more time with the likes of Helen Flanagan, Amir Khan and Jordan Banjo returning to our screens.

Gillian who finished up eighth place on the eight season of I'm A Celeb is said to be 'terrified' to be returning to the jungle as she admits her first experience on the show did not take away her fears of the jungle's wildlife.

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa continues at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
