Gigi Hadid has given an insight into how co-parenting works with her ex Zayn Malik.

The former couple first got together in 2015 and welcomed daughter Khai on September 19, 2020. Following an on-and-off relationship, they finally called it quits for good in October 2021.

Since then, they have remained committed to co-parenting Khai, who is now four.

Hadid, 29, is an in-demand model while former One Direction singer Malik, 32, recently relaunched a solo career.

Speaking about how they approach their shared parental responsibilities given both of their hectic work schedules, Hadid - who appears on Vogue’s April 2025 issue - said: “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance. That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.

“There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything. And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story. What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other, and not just as co-parents, but what we’ve been through together.”

She also gave a rare comment about her relationship with actor and filmmaker Bradley Cooper, 50.

Hadid and the Silver Linings Playbook star have been linked since October 2023 and she enthused to the publication about how he had “opened” her up to new experiences.

She explained: “Bradley has opened me up to going to the theatre more, and that’s something that’s so nice to bring back into my life.”

Hadid - who grew up in the spotlight with her Dutch-born mother Yolanda a star of reality TV series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - also admitted to struggling at times knowing who to trust and the importance of surrounding herself with good people.

She lamented: “You want to believe that people are going to have your back and not call TMZ or go on Deuxmoi or whatever, but you just don’t know.”

Vogue's April 2025 issue is available on newsstands nationwide on March 25.
