The New York Giants (4-8) host the Green Bay Packers (6-6) this coming Monday night at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The game features two of the NFL’s oldest and most iconic franchises.
Here are five things to know before the Week 14 matchup.
The series
Monday’s game will be the 56th regular-season meeting between the Giants and Packers going back to 1928.
Green Bay holds a 29-24-2 edge in the regular season and a 5-3 edge in the postseason.
The teams last faced off on October 9, 2022, in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with the Giants prevailing, 27-22.
In the four games played at MetLife Stadium, which opened in 2010, the series is tied two games apiece.
The latest on the Packers
The Packers have won three straight to even their record at 6-6. They currently hold the seventh and final playoff berth in the NFC.
Green Bay defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-19, in their most recent game this past Sunday night at home on national television.
Green Bay is 4-1 since Week 9, a .800 winning percentage that is tied with Dallas and Houston for No. 3 in the NFL over that span (Indianapolis and San Francisco are 4-0).
The latest on the Giants
The Giants opened the season losing eight of their first 10 games but won their two most recent contests — against Washington and New England — to improve their record to 4-8.
They are currently 12th in the NFC and are two games out of the final wild-card berth.
New York will once again start undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito at quarterback. It will be his fourth NFL start.
Whole Lotta Love
Since Week 9, Packers fourth-year quarterback Jordan Love ranks in the top five in the NFL in passing touchdowns (tied-No. 2, 11), passing yards (No. 3, 1,374), passer rating (No. 4, 106.3) and touchdown/interception ratio (No. 4, 5.5, minimum 100 pass attempts).
Love has recorded four games with three-plus touchdown passes and zero interceptions. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that is tied for the most by an NFL player in their first 13 career starts dating back to 1950.
Love had five pass plays of at least 25 yards at Pittsburgh in Week 10, matching the most by any Packers quarterback in a road game in the last 20 seasons. He is tied for second in the NFL this season in completions of 30-plus yards.
Some miscellaneous Green Bay notes
Some quick facts from the Packers communications team:
- The Packers lead the NFL in kickoff returns of 20-plus yards. Keishan Nixon leads the league in both kickoff returns (23) and return yards (622). Nixon has six kickoff returns of 50-plus yards since 2022, No. 1 in the NFL over that span.
- The Packers are tied for No. 1 in the NFL with only two fumbles lost this season. Dating back to 2000, that is the fewest by Green Bay through the first 12 games of the season.
- Former Giants draft pick Corey Ballentine had a career-high 10 tackles last week versus Kansas City.
- This season, the Packers are tied for No. 1 in the NFL in opponent drives started inside the 20-yard line after kickoffs (eight) and rank No. 10 in the NFL in opponent average starting field position after kickoffs (24.7), according to Stats Pass.
