The New York Giants enter a Week 14 matchup against the Green Bay Packers fresh off their bye week. They will be well-rested and riding a two-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, the Packers come in holding the final NFC playoff having won three consecutive games.
With the Giants at 4-8 on the year, many fans are keeping an eye on the team’s draft stock as the final five games of the season are upon us.
Here are three causes for concern heading into the Giants’ Week 14 matchup.
Packers are hot
After starting 2-4 in their first season of the post-Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay, the Packers have rattled off wins in four of their last five games and are currently riding a three-game winning streak.
The Packers are averaging just over 26 points per game during their three-game winning streak — a number that will be tough for a Giants offense led by Tommy DeVito to be able to keep up with.
The Packers beat their division rivals, the Detroit Lions, on Thanksgiving and followed that up with an impressive home win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.
If the Giants get the version of the Packers from the last five weeks, this one could get out of control in a hurry.
Packers protecting the ball
During the Packers’ three-game winning streak, they have not turned the ball over — something the Giants have relied heavily on to come away with wins in their last two games.
Green Bay has also forced at least one turnover in each of those games.
If the Giants are going to have a chance in this one, it certainly feels like they will have to win the turnover battle by a large margin.
Jordan Love may be the guy
It seems unlikely that the Packers can go from the talent level of Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers to another potential great.
It may be a little premature for that, but Packers quarterback Jordan Love is certainly played his best football of the season.
Love has scored three touchdowns in back-to-back games against elite opponents, including the reining Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The Giants need to have an emphasis on slowing Love in this one and, perhaps, Wink Martindale will draw up some blitz packages to make the quarterback uncomfortable on Monday night.
