The Giants are trading defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Seahawks in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft and a fifth-rounder in 2025, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Williams, 29, was a Pro Bowler for the Jets in 2016 and has been with the Giants since the team traded for him in October 2019. This season, he has 21 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks through eight games.
With the trade deadline quickly approaching Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, it appears that New York is seeking to build draft capital with the playoffs seemingly out of reach. The team is 2–6 at the bottom of the NFC East just one year removed from a playoff victory in coach Brian Daboll’s first season.
Seattle, on the other hand, appears to be all in. The Seahawks (5–2) sit atop the NFC West and are looking to make a significant push in the postseason. The trade isn’t immediately official because the Giants need to rework his contract to make the deal, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
