GWS are on the hunt for a new AFLW coach with Alan McConnell to step down after five seasons and move into another role at the club.
McConnell was the Giants' first employee in 2009 and held several different roles before taking over as AFLW coach in 2018.
He led them to their first finals appearance last season but GWS missed out in 2022, finishing ninth in a COVID-19 disrupted year.
"Alan's impact on our AFLW program can't be overstated," GWS chief executive Dave Matthews said.
"He has brought an extremely high level of expertise, experience and insight to our AFLW program and continued to set new standards.
"We're in discussions with Alan on what the next chapter looks like as a continuation of an already outstanding coaching career."
GWS and Port Adelaide are the only clubs without coaches in place for next season.
It is unclear whether either team will look to appoint a woman as coach.
As it stands, newly-appointed Essendon coach Natalie Wood and Hawthorn mentor Bec Goddard are the only two female coaches ahead of the first 18-team season.
