Giants sign former 2nd-round pick Jihad Ward

Not long after adding running back Matt Breida, the New York Giants inked another free agent. The team announced on Monday that it has signed edge rusher Jihad Ward.

Ward was a second-round pick by the Raiders in 2016 but has bounced around the NFL in recent years. He spent two years with the Raiders, playing 21 games, but since then, he’s made stops with the Colts, Ravens and Jaguars.

Last season in Jacksonville, Ward played all 17 games and recorded a career-high 32 tackles. He also had two sacks and seven QB hits, with three of his tackles coming for a loss.

In his career, Ward has played 68 games and has recorded 10 total sacks with 91 tackles.

With Lorenzo Carter leaving to sign with the Falcons, Ward at least gives the Giants some depth at outside linebacker for 2022.
