The New York Giants continued adding defensive backs to their paper thin roster on Thursday, signing cornerback Michael Jacquet III.
The 25-year-old Jacquet originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana in 2020. He spent the first year-plus of his career in Philly before being released in late October of last year.
Roughly two weeks after his Eagles release, the 6-foot-1, 203-pound Jacquet signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he appeared in just one game for the Jags, taking three snaps on special teams. The remainder of his time was spent on the practice squad.
In eight career games (two starts), Jacquet has recorded 18 tackles (12 solo, six for a loss), one QB hit, 1.0 sacks, one forced fumble and three passes defensed. He earned a PFF grade of 60.0 in 2021 and a PFF grade of 46.2 as a rookie in 2020.
In order to create room for Jacquet on their 90-man roster, the Giants also announced that defensive tackle Antonio Valentino had been waived.
