Giants set to face Eli Apple in Week 5 after signing with Dolphins

There are few names New York Giants fans hear that trigger the kind of negative response that Eli Apple does.

A former first-round pick of the Giants in 2016, Apple’s career in New York was nothing short of a disaster, leading to his being dealt to the New Orleans Saints after two-plus seasons with Big Blue.

Since then, Apple has never shied away from running his mouth whenever he gets the chance, and sometimes it’s directed at the Giants and their fans. Even his mom, Annie, has gotten into the fray at times, making the pair a packaged deal.

Bear in mind, Apple has never panned out to be the player the Giants hoped he would be when he was originally drafted, no matter where he’s landed in recent years.

Apple has been quiet this offseason, as he’s remained a free agent all the way until the start of training camps around the league. However, that quiet looks set to end.

The Dolphins announced on Sunday that Apple is going to South Beach, with the veteran corner reportedly signing a one-year deal after the Dolphins recently lost star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to injury.

And, of course, this now sets Apple and the Giants up on a crash course for Week 5, when New York will travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. That is, assuming Apple makes the team.
