Giants place D.J. Davidson on IR in flurry of roster moves

The New York Giants made a flurry of roster moves on Saturday afternoon before a Week 14 game against the New Orleans Saints at MetLife Stadium.

Defensive tackle D.J. Davidson (shoulder) being placed on injured reserve (IR) was the most notable. He had been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game.

In 12 games this season, Davidson has recorded 23 tackles (12 solo, one for a loss), two fumble recoveries, two QB hits, and 2.0 sacks.

The Giants also waived quarterback Tim Boyle, leaving them with just Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito this week. He is likely to sign back to their practice squad.

In corresponding roster moves, New York signed defensive linemen Elijah Garcia and Casey Rogers from their practice squad to the active roster.

Finally, the team elevated offensive lineman Tyre Phillips and cornerback Greg Stroman from the reserve unit. It’s the first elevation for Phillips and the third for Stroman, who has none remaining.

If the Giants want to use Stroman again, he’ll have to be signed to the 53-man roster.
