The Carolina Panthers haven’t lost Mike Kafka—at least not yet.
On Monday, less than 24 hours after his team’s upset win over the Minnesota Vikings in their Wild Card round matchup, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that his offensive coordinator will not participate in interviews for a head coaching job of his own this week. Daboll, Kafka and the Giants—rather—remain focused on their playoff run, one that’ll take them to Philadelphia this Saturday.

Kafka’s stock as a candidate has never been higher, especially after New York’s eye-opening triumph in Minnesota. The 35-year-old play caller pieced together a brilliant offense in the 31-24 victory—helping guide quarterback Daniel Jones to 301 passing yards, 78 rushing yards, a pair of touchdown throws and zero turnovers.
As first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero almost one week ago, the Panthers requested an interview with Kafka for their head coaching position.
