Giants NFL power rankings round-up going into Week 7

The New York Giants dropped to 1-5 on the season following a 14-9 defeat at the hands of the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Sunday night.

Despite being down quarterback Daniel Jones, left tackle Andrew Thomas and several other key players, the Giants hung tough in the game and had multiple chances to win. However, their offense once again let the defense down in the end.

As we enter Week 7, here’s a look at where the Giants place in a multitude of power rankings.

Nate Davis, USA TODAY:

ESPN Stats & Info sums up their start pretty well, noting the G-Men are the fourth team since 1950 which failed to score an offensive touchdown before halftime in each of their first six games. In fact, New York’s offense hasn’t scored a TD since Week 3.

Barry Werner, List Wire:

The Giants should have beaten the Bills. But… should have, could have, would have left the bank account empty after a day at the races.

Jarrett Bailey, Touchdown Wire:

The Giants had more passing yards and rushing yards than the Bills. They also had fewer fumbles lost, fewer interceptions, and missed fewer field goals- they still lost. And according to The Athletic, they are the first team to lose in that situation. Teams were 134-0 in that scenario up until Sunday night. New York is impressively bad.

Dalton Miller, Pro Football Network:

The Giants might be the worst team in the NFL, especially now that Daniel Jones is not on the field. They’re a bottom-three team in both offensive and defensive EPA. Their offensive line is the worst unit in the league, and their secondary simply can’t be depended upon as much as a Wink Martindale defense relies on man coverage with exotic blitzes in front.

Nobody expected a win against the Bills on Sunday Night Football. The Giants were already one of the worst units in the NFL on offense before Jones missed Sunday with a neck injury. The only thing keeping them from the final spot in the power rankings is that the Panthers remain winless.

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: 27 (-1)

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News:

The Giants’ defense put up a fight in Buffalo and Saquon Barkley returning for the running game helped fill-in QB Tyrod Taylor, but the lack of firepower overall hurt Taylor as much it was Daniel Jones.

Frank Schwab, Yahoo! Sports:

The focus was on the Giants ending each half Sunday night on Buffalo’s 1-yard line without scoring either time, but it’s worth commending New York on its effort. For the first 20 quarters of the season, the Giants were horrible for 18 of them. They fought hard on Sunday night despite numerous injuries. There’s something to be said for that.

Josh Schrock, NBC Sports: 27 (+2)

Josh Schrock, NBC Sports:

The Giants might end up in prime position to land Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. If only they hadn’t just signed Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract.
