The New York Giants rallied to defeat the Arizona Cardinals, 31-28, essentially saving their season last Sunday. It was their biggest comeback since 1949 and helped provide some momentum that had been missing.
Despite the historic comeback and record-setting play by quarterback Daniel Jones, it did little to sway the critics. Many remain hard on the Giants and for some reason, especially hard on Jones.

They’re lucky to be 1-1 after salvaging a win in Arizona. They’re not so lucky to be headed to San Francisco on a short week, which will likely be the first of several without injured RB Saquon Barkley (ankle).

The Giants looked like a team headed for trouble at halftime against the Arizona Cardinals. Scoreless through six quarters with the 49ers up next on Thursday. Brian Daboll shook them up and Big Blue scored 31 in 30 minutes and won. The Saquon Barkley injury is enormous as he is out 3 weeks … at least.

Jarrett Bailey, Touchdown Wire:
Nearly losing to a team that is actively not trying to win games is certainly a feat. Now Saquon Barkley is injured and they travel to San Francisco to open up Week 3 this Thursday- not great.

The Giants looked like they were about to be 0-2. At one point, they were down 20-0, and it was 28-7 late in the third quarter. But the stumbling Giants kept their heads down and made sure that the Cardinals were not their David after being stomped by their own Goliath against Dallas in Week 1.
But the win comes at a cost. It appears that Saquon Barkley may have a serious leg injury. That loss will put a ton of pressure on $40 million QB Daniel Jones, both through the air and in the run game, because he must use his legs if that offense wants to move the ball on the ground without Barkley.

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News:
The Giants had a great desert escape in Arizona but Daniel Jones still looked shaky and now Saquon Barkley is hurt. There’s no excuse for the defense to play that poorly.
Frank Schwab, Yahoo! Sports: 24 (NC)
The Giants had a great comeback win. Daniel Jones was really good in the second half. It’s also impossible to give the Giants all the credit for the second half without acknowledging the errors they made in digging a 28-7 hole to Arizona. It’s better to be 1-1 figuring things out than 0-2, but the Giants need to be a lot better. And it will get tougher with running back Saquon Barkley out a reported three weeks with an ankle injury.

How much is Daniel Jones making next season? Whatever the number, it’s way too damn high.
